White forms lined up
steel gleaming in hand
black faces staring
waiting
preparing
They are testing
feint here attack there
evade that parry this
probing
learning
One kicks out his foot
the other drops lower
steel clashes and both retreat
all contact brief
looking
feeling
The second becomes aggressive
the first just waits
parry six counter eight
finding
searching
The first realized the tempo changed
the second recovering too slow
keep it simple make it count
starting
lunging
ground is covered fast
the duel has been sped up
the point soon to come
locking
clashing
A light shines
a beep sounds
halt is called both disengage
countered
rage
The first attacks too wide
the second used his bluff well
never was he off balance only preparing
reckless
hesitant
This is a game of the mind
physical ability is not key
four more points to go
as one learns
the other compensates

This is a sport.

Beautiful rythem. Two of my greatest pleasures are fencing and poetry. What blade do you fence?

I'm not summer nationals good, but i'm alright. I recently joined my club's competative class and i'm still not as good as most of the guys. It kinda sucks being the only girl. There is an event comming up that I would go to accept I have something going on with quartet stuff that day.

main thing i notice between girls and guys in fencing is that guys are more aggressive, that really seems to be the big difference from what i can tell, and hell in epee atleast it puts the girl in a better position cause all she has to do is wait for us to attack and then pop us on the wrist.......... 1 light point to my left..........in foil ya need a bit more finese not sure how you stack up against the guys in terms of strength and speed, but maybe you can out think em afterall it is physical chess...... try controlling the tempo a bit and then breaking it at your will........ maybe an advance feint retreat into an advance slide bind 6 or 8 once in awhile

Yeh, I'm pretty fast, it's just that most of them have been fencing for at least 4 years. I've been fencing for about 1.5 years. I tried fencing epee a couple of times and now I have the bad habbit of doing opposition parries all the time XP >.< They're all a lot taller than me too -_-'

:iconartist-of-deceit:
ya mind binds??..........i only have 2 yrs experience under my belt so thats not much of an excuse lol.....opposition parries are awesome...... if they work your opponent cant hit you ........i like them alot more than a normal foil parry.... tis the nature of an epeeist
